JULY 4, 2006

This was our second year to celebrate July 4th in our new neighborhood. To start the day, we gathered up the kids, got on the bikes and headed out to the parade.  Lauren rode in the tandem bike behind me, and Austin rode in the trailer behind Jacqui.  I really enjoy seeing all the balloons, flags and decorated bikes. If we were good parents, like our neighbors Laura and Walter, we would decorate our kids bikes.   Anyway, the parade was a lot of fun, and we would have spent the rest of the day enjoying the festivities at the pool, but the rain came down hard and heavy.

Austin had the best deal going - I wish someone would drive me around in that trailer.

Awwww, Lauren is sad.....

Yeah!   Now she's happy!!

...and here is scary Lauren - Grrrrrrrrrr!!

The parade starts to move!

...it's a slow parade....

So THAT'S why it rained so hard.
Chicken Little showed up, and the sky did fall.

Lauren decides to ride with Austin... She is a smart girl.

After the parade, we went home and just tried to stay dry.  There were supposed to be activities all day, with a concert and fireworks....but everything had to be postponed until later that week.  Of course, just looking at these pictures you'd never know - I don't know why I'm even mentioning it other than just to keep an accurate record of the events....yawn....get on with the pics!

A couple days later - Friday night - we joined our neighbors to watch the concert and fireworks.

Getting ready for the show.

While we watched the concert and fireworks....
Lauren played with her friends - running up and down the hill.
She worked up a good sweat.

FIREWORKS!!

I see Lauren!
